Clinical estimation of anticaries effect of probiotic toothpaste among 18-25 years old young adults- A double blinded randomized controlled trial

Aim & Objectives: The aim and objective of the study was to estimate anticaries effect probiotic toothpaste by assessing Streptococcus mutans Lactobacillus levels recording indices before after intervention among 18-25 years old young adults. Materials Methods : A double blinded, randomized controlled trial carried out thirty healthy volunteers adults in city Madurai. subjects were randomly divided into two equal groups B. At baseline, samples saliva collected check like Oral Hygiene Index (1960), Modified Turesky Plaque (1970), Stain (1968) Gingival (1963) recoded. Group received Conventional toothpastes (Colgate cavity protection) B Probiotic (Purexa). For next 15 days, they instructed brush using only allotted toothpastes. sample collection repeated days post intervention. Results oral hygiene showed significant differences mean (0.14, 0.28; p<0.05 respectively). difference means noted between case Plaque, Stain, bacterial count (Lactobacilli mutans) (A :0.10, -0.12, 0.01; :0.06, 0.09, 0.28 -12.8, -14.8 ; Conclusion illustrated a reduction Lactobacillus, count, index scores compared conventional
